Model SVV Annular Gas Vent Valve

The Model SVV Annular Gas Vent Valve is designed for Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) well operations, providing a safe and reliable means to vent natural gas separated by the pump’s gas separator. Positioned above the Model ESP Packer’s gas venting string, the SVV facilitates the efficient venting of gas through the casing annulus above the packer.

Utilizing a rod piston actuation system, the SVV is opened by hydraulic control line pressure applied from the surface control panel. When activated, the rod piston descends, aligning the side ports between the closure sleeve and the valve body, thereby permitting gas flow between the ESP Packer’s gas venting string and the packer annulus. Upon releasing the control line pressure, the spring-loaded mechanism automatically closes the valve, positioning the side ports of the closure sleeve between two seals to shut off communication.

The SVV valve  feature its own dedicated hydraulic control line port and engineered to withstand pressures up to 5,000 psi (34.5 MPa) and operate at service temperatures up to 325°F (163°C), depending on the materials used.

An optional feature allows the valve to use annulus pressure to lock open the valve in the open position, providing more flexibility for operation based on well conditions.

Key Features & Benefits:
  • Reliable Gas Venting : Designed to efficiently vent natural gas separated by the ESP through the casing annulus
  • Rod Piston Actuation System : Utilizes hydraulic control line pressure to open the valve, aligning side ports for gas flow
  • Fail-Safe Design : The valve remains closed until intentionally opened by control line pressure
  • Annulus Pressure Lock Open : Features an optional capability to lock the valve in the open position using annulus pressure, enhancing operational flexibility based on well conditions
  • Enhanced Safety : Provides a secure method for venting gas, minimizing risks associated with gas buildup
