Model SVV Annular Gas Vent Valve

The Model SVV Annular Gas Vent Valve is utilized in Electrical Submersible Pump installations to vent the natural gas separated by the pump’s gas separator. It is connected above the model ESP Packer’s gas venting string to allow venting of gas through the casing annulus above the packer.

The SVV uses a rod piston actuation system that can only be opened by applied hydraulic control line pressure at the surface. When open, the rod piston moves down to align side ports between the closure sleeve and the valve body, permitting communication between the ESP Packer’s gas venting string and the packer annulus. When control line pressure is released, the spring loaded rod will force the valve closed, which locates the side ports of the closure sleeve between two seals, shutting off communication.
The SVV may have its own dedicated hydraulic control line or share a common control line with the tubing safety valve system.

Key Features & Benefits:
  • Used to vent gas separated by ESP in a safe and reliable manner through casing annulus
  • Fail-safe design – Natural state of valve is to remain closed until opened by control line pressure
